The Hazel Show
Peabody's Wayback Machine,
Dial Set for early 60s,
Location is Frontier Land.
Another Spring cleaning find. A Bobby Buntrock autographed and personalized flyer from his appearance at Frontier Land. Of course you know who Buntrock is. You do, don't you? Bobby Buntrock. Aww come on! We're talking major Hollywood TV star at the peek of his fame. Appearing every week on the international series Hazel. Well, one reason you might not be familiar with Bobby is just a few years after he was my amusement park buddy he had a tragic accident. At the age of 21 he was killed in a car accident. (This caption sure turned dark, didn't it?) I would like to think that he would have gone on to greatness like everyone else I knew back then.
Next thing you'll be telling me is you've never heard of Frontier Land. You haven't!? Seriously? You know, small time amusement park in the heart of the Cherokee reservation. Quite close to where Harrah's Casino is now. It wasn't a bad little western-themed park. Back in the day when amusement parks didn't have to be giant and cost a fortune. Actually, on the back side of this flyer it lists the admission cost… $2.50 for adults and $1.25 for children… including taxes!!! In 2016 you can't really buy anything at an amusement park for that amount. All amusement parks even had free parking. If you use this cost as an indication of inflation, minimum wage should now be about $30.00 an hour.
Good ol' Bobby Buntrock. I believe after meeting him I tried to watch the Hazel show a few times. He wasn't on it enough to keep my attention. I preferred the Munsters.
