Ford Focus ST170
For some reason I never uploaded this one. When I bought my ST170 back in 2020 there were two to view, this and the blue 5 door example I ended up with.
This one was more expensive, but had the stiffest gearchange I've experienced in any car. I'm assuming the gearbox didn't have much (or any) oil left inside it. Worse than that though, the rear seatbelt mounting area had been bodged on both sides. Presumably they had rotted out at some point, but hadn't received a welded repair. Instead a metal plate had been glued over the offending areas.
Having seen that, it wasn't a difficult decision to go for the cheaper car, which looked rougher cosmetically and had the EML illuminated (actually a very handy bargaining point), but which turned out to have a very good engine and gearbox. And it cleaned up nicely too.
Not too surprised to see the silver one has now been scrapped. The blue one I had is still taxed, but out of MOT. Going by the previous advisories I'd not be too confident of an easy pass!
