Renault Clio D-Que S M-Nav NRG DC
Yes, that is the actual Cartell description for this car. What was wrong with L, GL, GLS...
I was pleased to see this parked up for me when I arrived home last Friday, nice to have a bit of a change from the more usual Corsa / Fiesta hire cars I usually get.
Clios have certainly come on since I last rode in one (a 52 reg car back in 2003!). For starters it's pretty big for a car in this segment; much bigger than a Fiesta or Corsa - my mate joked that it wasn't far off in size to his 1-Series and actually he's right. The interior is bang up to date too and I really like those alloys.
It drove quite nicely, although I suspect the 1.5 Tdi isn't the best engine Renault offer in the Clio. It feels a bit old now in comparison to newer diesel engines and was rather noisy at times. I was quite impressed with how flatly it cornered, although the steering could give a a bit more feedback at times. Overall I thought this was pretty good, although if I was buying something like this I'd still go for a Fiesta - they're a lot more fun to drive.
