Woodcock and the Magpies 3 12 10
After a very cold night, this morning, four Woodcock were seen at the far end of the garden, rumaging about in the leaf litter under the trees. Captured this interaction between one of the Woodcock and two of our local Magpies. Surprisingly enough the Magpies came off worst - as the Woodcock stood its ground initially and then chased them off finally. It looked as if there was competition for the same source of food - although the Magpies do make free with the range of bird food put out. Perhaps it was a mixture of competition and curiosity on their parts!
