The Pump
The Pump holds a special place in my heart. When my family took trips to Yellowstone 35 years ago my father would drive straight through from Seattle while we slept in the back of the Volkswagen Bus. We would wake up here in Ennis, Montana at the state fishing/camping area outside of town. It was always a treat to use the pump to brush teeth and get a drink. Those memories stuck with me.
Now, I make my family stop there every time we go through Ennis. My daughters shake their heads a little bit that Dad has this crazy thing about the pump but I assure them that 35 years from now they'll also be nostalgic for those pleasant little memories that have defied change. Maybe in 35 more years they'll even find the pump still in place and working.
