Golden Square - Preston c.1949
Golden Square was located off Dale Street behind what is now Stuart Fraser Kitchens on Stanley Street. The house in the background was the first Preston home built for John Horrocks in 1792 close to his first mill, ''The Yellow Factory''. The house went on to become ''The Refuge For Friendless Girls''. Sadly, absolutely no trace of this area remains today.
