Scan v DSLR - Crisis in Confidence

I really like using the digital camera - but was asked about scanners - so I broke out the scanner and messed with it - for the record -

DSLR is a Sony A100 with a Sigma macro 50mm DG lens

Scanner is an HP G4010 (which is what the NPS used on my Harry Truman Slides)

I have spent a LONG time getting to know and love the behavior pattern of the DSLR.

Here is what I aknow after the learning curve wore off -

Camera takes 1/10 the time of teh scanner, and I like the colors that come back from the camera. Scanner may pick up some fine detail (not much) - but does a better job of controlling contrast.

Any other thoughts?
