Digital Infrared
As a demonstration of how to replicate the look of infrared film starting with a digital file, I took this low-angle shot of the same tree and processed it in Photoshop. The pseudo infrared process is pretty straight-forward now with presets in both the channel mixer dialogue and the Black & White adjustment layer. This effect was more elusive a few versions back.
This image was taken with a 24-70 zoom at about 24. The perspective created by the lens and the difference in the aspect ratio create a completely different feel than the other image but I think I did a reasonable job of recreating the infrared effect. I've kept the grape leaves darker because bleachiness of those leaves was one of the things that bothered me about the real infrared.
