Steam engine at Crucius used to drain the Haarlemmermeer between 1849-1852.

 

Side view of the cylinder and circular weight. Note the rigid attachment of the 5 piston rods to the cental weight. The beam from the weight to the left top edge of the is one of the auxiliary pumps (condensor or boiler feeder pump).
