Another pair of pasters from The American Locomotive Company of Schenectady, New York. These two depict two powerful locomotives of The Lehigh Valley Railroad. The engines of this class were designed to pull heavy freight trains.
The tenders of these engines sport "Bethlehem Boosters", which were designed to increase power ascending The Valley's steep graded mountains in Pennsylvania. Not having worked as intended, these boosters were removed from the tenders.
Sadly, no Lehigh Valley steam engines escaped the scrappers torch….
