N.E.R. P3 2392.
This powerful loco left Darlington North Road on 19th September 1923.As the largest of the N.E.R. 0-6-0's they soon found plenty of work in the northern coalfields and survived till the end of steam on B.R. As a J27 this loco was at York most of its life,and had regular trips to the coast.In 1963 at Darlington Works a non-superheated boiler was fitted,then in 1966 the loco was despatched to Sunderland,South Dock, where with its other survivors,it blasted through the Durham coalfields 'till withdrawal along with its classmates.Interestingly the engine worked the very last steam diagram from Sunderland shed on 9th September 1967.. . .Have a look here for the full story..... www.nelpg.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=ar...
