This is a real scene, which is why it caught my attention. I was there in the winter and noticed the abandonment of it all. But the light wasn't right until I passed by again in July, about 1/2 hour before sunset.
This photo was taken July 24, 2009, with the sun low on the Western horizon. I was there again on February 13, 2010, and there was then a nasty RV parked on the left side of the barn, making it not such a pretty scene.
The DOF scale told me f/22 would place the entire scene in focus. While I was shooting however, I wanted to see what f/4 focused only on the front of the field would create, and that is the scene we see here. This was f/4 @ 1/60th, and it's become one of my favorite photographs. The shallow DOF creates the feel I wanted to show that day.
