The Evening Wolverton Went Online

The sun sets over the fields west of Cambridge as train 159-27 enters the new siding at Wolverton. The old ABS signals still stand beneath the new signal bridge, turned away and out of service. Their purpose now redundant. The original siding will remain as a future storage track for the yard that will built here in the coming years. Today Wolverton in addition to the siding has 9 tracks and centres as a feeding point for the area Toyota plants. The following is a snip it from an OS I made from that evening at the East Switch Wolverton:

 

** Most of you maybe aware from one of my previous posts that Wolverton (between Galt and Woodstock) on the Galt Sub is receiving a railyard which will be the heart of all the Toyota traffic for the area. They are making this 10,000 foot section of the sub an "island" of CTC in the middle of the OCS. Reasoning behind it will make for easier movement of trains into and out of the yard, especially during switching moves.

As 243 approached Guelph Jct the RTC informed him of trouble ahead. The two trains ahead of him, 159 and the Ham Turn were cleared as far as Orr's Lake. The plan was for these three trains to go into the brand new siding at Wolverton and wait for 5 eastbounds! So here is how it went down.
