One of my favorite photos taken for the Albion River Inn on the Mendocino Coast in Northern California.
The inn and restaurant hired me to take pictures for their website - www.albionriverinn.com - a project I worked on extensively last year. I did all the room shots, grounds, food, and restaurant pictures.
How did I shoot this particular moonlit scene? I got up at about 4:30 A.M. I needed to be ready before dawn to take the photo with natural light: the Full Moon shining on the Pacific, and the warm glow of the candlelight on the table. There was also a small wall light above the table, on a dimmer switch, which I turned on to add a little warm tone. I needed to get the shot with no people present which is why I took the photo so early in the morning, simulating evening dining. It was a 30 second exposure.
I was happy with the results. It was worth it to get up early!
