Design Motifs, Quillwork on Bark

LeClerq described seventeenth-century, pictures of 'monsters', and animals such as are supplied by their imaginations. the designs show here are Micmac petrogylphs. The image at the top is supposed to be a horned serpent, the image on the left is though to be thunder and the image on the right is very common on. It may have been a depiction of this nature to which LeClercq was referring, when he described a man with a head.
