Turkey-Ankara

Different shades of gray and yellow cover the central region of Anatolia. There is a lack of greenery because the sun bakes the soil and there's never enough rain. It's hard for people to live in the middle of a plateau. When the parching summer passes, then winter's snow and cold take their toll. Still, the plateau is a secret paradise, a feast for the eyes. The Bird Paradise in Nallıhan, 170 kilometers from Ankara, is an example of this feast. As the Kizilirmak and Sakarya rivers supply life to the plateau, the area near the rivers has become a habitat throughout history for humans and other various components of nature. Nallıhan Bird Paradise was sanctioned by the General Directorate of National Parks, Hunting and Wildlife in 1994 and is state protected. It is one of 70 bird sanctuaries in Turkey and more than 170 kinds of birds inhabit it. You can see flying creatures such as falcons, hawks, eagles, Egyptian vultures, red herons, pelicans, greenheads, shags, pintails, cranes, partridges, woodcocks, quail, geese and crakes............Don't use this image on websites, blogs or other media without my explicit permission.
