2000 Jaguar-Cosworth R1

Pictured is a 2000 Jaguar-Cosworth R1 Grand Prix Car.

The R1 was the first Jaguar F1 car, Ford having bought the Stewart Grand Prix team during 1999. It was driven in 2000 by Johnny Herbert and Eddie Irvine. Test driver Luciano Burti also had a one-off outing in Austria, deputising for the unwell Irvine.

Much was expected of Jaguar in 2000 following a successful season for Stewart the previous year, culminating in a win for Johnny Herbert at the European Grand Prix.

However, the R1 was a disappointment and would score points only twice all season, fourth position in Monaco for Irvine being the team's best result. Indeed, Herbert would not score any points at all in his final season in the sport.

Four points would place Irvine 13th in the championship with Jaguar ending the season as ninth best constructor.
