Poorly Duff : Bottesford West Junction

The timing of this train is now appalling for photography. Running out in the afternoon and returning in the late evening. Seen here at Bottesford West Junction it is virtually coming out of the sun.

On this occasion 47749 was not behaving. Having slowed for the 30 mph speed limit over Radcliffe Viaduct just east of Nottingham, the loco was unable to pick up power and thus limped along at 30 mph all the way to me and beyond to Allington Junction. At Allington the train was able to stop on the West to North chord which is little used. Here the driver had a look around and managed to get the consist on the way and in the end the train arrived at Boston one minute early.

Despite that, the powers that be were nervous and elected not to risk the loco returning with the loaded train, consequently 47749 returned light engine to Washwood Heath in it's normal return path.
