William Nurse - Master Mariner

In Affectionate Remembrance

William Nurse

Master Mariner

Who died February 14th 1886 (?)

Aged 52 years

The 1871 Census lists a 37 year old Mariner, William Nurse living in his parents house on the High Street, Blakeney. Blakeney is shown as his place of birth, and he is unmarried. His parents are William, (aged 70 and a retired Ships master from Weybourne) and Hannah, (aged 71 and from Cley).

William doesn’t appear to be on the 1861 Census.

The most likely candidate on the 1851 Census is a 16 year staying with an uncle\aunt at Egmere (Unfortunately the details of the rest of the family are on the previous page, and the Genes Re-United web-site doesn’t give you the facility to scroll forwards or backwards. The family name appears to be Parsons). William is working as an Agricultural Labourer and his place of birth is given as Weybourne.
