055_Kailasanatha Temple

Dedicated to Shiva, Kailasanatha Temple is the oldest temple in Kanchipuram. It was built by king Rayasimha in the late 7th century. There are 58 small shrines honoring Shiva and Parvati and their sons, Ganesh and Murugan.

Non-hindus are allowed into the inner sanctum here, where a prismatic lingam located - the largest in town and third-largest in India.
