Comanche Pete

This is the Piper "Comanche" that my buddy, Chris (hiding behind the engine) gave us a ride in around Lake Tahoe. My SAR Sergeant, Pete, is always a ham for cameras. I thought the title sounded like a funny nickname out of the Old West. Hahaha

 

So as Chris pulled us out from the ramp to the runway, getting ready to take off, he said to Pete, "OK, you're going to fly"... Pete has never flown an airplane before, and he thought Chris was joking at first...Hahahahaha

 

Chris kept his hands and feet on the controls just in case, but he let Pete do the flying (all until it was time for our final approach and landing, which are not something a novice can do). Pete was so happy to be on the ground when we landed that he literally hugged the tarmac. Haha! :-D

 

When it was time for us to get ready for final approach, Chris said, "I have the controls...I don't think Doug would be comfortable with you flying from here on out". I replied, "I perfectly OK with Pete's flying, it's his landings that concern me".
