Friction stud welding
This was a pull test we set up to test the yield strengh of 4 x 10mm carbon studs welded by friction with the R1004 portable weld head onto 1" thick plate. during the demo we had 300bar(9ton) pull on these 4 small studs. after everyone went home we tested it to destruction (what fun) After standing well back we had them up to equiv of 13.5 tonnes, then one stretched and snapped, one stripped the threads on the stud, and the other two just stretched, All welds where still complete showing the weld was stronger than the studs!!!!! beyond predictions.
