Power Lines

Was the introduction of the power lines a good thing? It can be considered a disturbance and in the last week we learned that at the right time it can increase species diversity. Removing those trees made it possible for the grasses and flowers to move back in. I'd like to know the difference in species diversity before and after the power lines.
