My Second Car (1981 S)
I purchased this '81 police package LTD "S" (with optional quad-headlight front facia - before they became standard on the 1983 LTD/Crown Victoria) in 1984. It was the former Belchertown, MA police chief's car.
The damage you see was the result of an idiot driver going too fast and not paying attention to her surroundings. She blew a stop sign and broadsided me in 1985. She was in a brand-new Honda Accord which was totally demolished, and she suffered serious but not life-threatening injures. No one in my car was hurt. God Bless Ford for installing highway guardrail "I"-beams beneath the sheet metal of their police cars for side impact protection. The Accord was taken away on a flatbed in pieces. I drove away.
