Kitchen is Ready for Service again

Go here to see the story of how my progress went on this weekend warrior home improvement project.

What we really loved about this project was the thrift we were able to employ. Luckily, we prefer white appliances because everybody else in the world is going to stainless steel. All of the appliances you see here are gently used - about a year or two old. They are all premium brands (something we could never justify buying new).

Oven - double convection Dacor - $700

Cooktop - five burner gas Thermador - $400

Hood - Kitchen Aid (out of box special at Expo) - $420

Dishwasher - Bosch (can't even hear it running) - $300

Sink (new) - Kohler apron front country sink - $560

Fridge - Sears top-of-line - $665

Counter tops - We splurged and went with granite - $4,100 installed (the installation was a trip with all the 45-degree angles. They were real craftsmen.)

Cabinets - original, but we had a friend build new doors and drawers for $1,150 (our best bargain of all). Four doors have glass now. We were going for the Arts & Crafts look.
