Water Gate
A big thank you to Ken Hawley for the inspiration for this one. Ken called his photo Mystery Arch and it certainly was a mystery to me having spent so much time on the Cromford Canal and never seen it.
Turns out it had been hidden by layers of clinging Ivy that was cleared by the hard working volunteers.
As an update, I was sent a message by the Friends Of The Cromford Canal which read:
As a bit of an update, I was sent the following information from Friends Of The Cromford Canal:
"It is the water gate in the garden of Rock House, one time home of Sir Richard Arkwright. It led to a small footbridge over the canal and provided the family’s short cut to St Mary’s Church."
What great information, really grateful for their help.
