Cool Spats

This man was asking passers-by if they had "Mary " or "Mary-Jane". Folks were rushing past him, trying to ignore his question.

 

He was hardly lucid, and I started to pass him by, until I noticed the sharp shoes. I stopped to tell him how great his shoes are.

 

I said "cool spats!" He became focused and lucid immediately.

 

I asked him if I could take a picture, and he said, "Sure. This is a freebee".
