Exodia

I began this intending to redo a project I hadn't been able to save at school. We were supposed to make a sort-of collage and I think that's what Photoshop was having difficulties with.

I took an image of a hand holding four playing cards and replaced the cards with four of the five "Sealed One" cards from the manga Yu-Gi-Oh! I named this layer "Exodia"

I cut the hand and cards away from the background, using Magnetic Lasso so that I could edit it in a separate layer. This layer I named "Sky".

The background of the hand was originally black, so I filled it with a dark blue with highlights of lighter blues, white, and yellow. After that I filtered it first with Glass, then Colored Pencil. I swirled the colors with Liquify to create a Starry Night effect.

I created a third layer, named it Feather, filled it with light gray, and set it's opacity to around 30%. Then I used the Elliptical Marquee tool to select an oval area around the cards, still on the Feather layer. I chose Feather under the Select menu and typed in 15 for the width.

Next I went back to the Exodia layer and blurred the hand and the edges of the cards just slightly.

Finally I used the text tool to type the lines from the manga. ( Yu-Gi-Oh!, Chapter 39, page 4)
