1936 Morgan 4/4 Series I Roadster

Up to 1936 all Morgans were three wheeler cycle cars. The Morgan 4/4 was the first four wheel car, 4/4 indicating 4 wheels and 4 cylinders.

1936-39 Series I 4/4 (flat nose) open two seater, four seater in 1937 and a drop head coupe (permanent window frames) in 1938. Engines; 34hp 1122 cc Coventry Climax, 1939; 39hp 1267cc Standard

1950 Plus Four; wider, longer and strengthened for more powerful 2088cc Standard Vanguard engine. (1991cc Triumph in 1953) Round nose from 1955.

1955-60 Series II 4/4 (round nose) also longer, same length as the Plus Four. Engine; 36hp 1172 cc Ford 100E.

1960-71 Series III 4/4; 39hp 997 cc Ford Anglia 105E engine.

1961-63 Series IV; 62hp 1340 cc Ford Classic 109E engine

1963-68 Series V; 65hp 1498 cc Ford Cortina 116E engine

1968 on; 4/4 1600, initially with the 1600cc Kent crossflow engine.
