1958 Ford Zephyr Mk II Saloon
Australia.
The Mk II Ford Consul/ Zephyr/ Zodiac was built in the UK from 1956-62.
Before 1959 was the ‘highline’ model. In 1959, the ‘lowline’ had a lower roofline, the Zephyr now had a horizontal bar grille and a new instrument cluster.
Consul; base model 4 cyl, mesh grille
Zephyr; mid spec 6cyl, more elaborate grill.

In the UK, most Mk II Zephyrs were 4 door Sedans, (independent coach builders Carbodies built some convertibles and Abbott, some Estates).
The Mk II was also built in Australia. Sedans, Station Wagons and Coupe Utilities were produced, their station wagons differed from the Abbott estates by having a wind-up rear window and a straight C pillar.
New Zealand assembly of the Mark II, from CKD kits, now included the Zodiac.
Engine; 86 or 90hp 156 cu in 6 cyl
