Service 18A (67796)
A new service that started back in October was the 18A although effectively it is just an extention of every third 18, weekdays mid morning to early afternoon only.
It uses the layover of one of the 18 buses per hour created by axing the Charleston link for two of the three buses per hour.
The idea of the 18A is to give the residents of Kincorth a link to the Lidl supermarket off Wellington Road. However, it doesn't appear to have taken off with no bus I have seen so far carrying any passengers beyond Redmoss or from Lidl. The service would probably gain more passengers working peak periods as it passes through the industrial estate but of course it services Altens at those times. The timings of the service are poor as it gives passengers an hour and 17 minutes to do their shop which is too long for a supermarket of the size of the Lidl. It also doesn't stop at Lidl either, parking round the corner on Wellington Road and blocks the layby for the 3 & 3A services. Would have been better looping Hareness and stopping opposite Lidl and certainly carried more passengers on its old route to Charleston.
67796 approaches Wellington Road empty. Although it travels though the industrial estate as seen here there are no bus stops.
