i have needs.

"I have abilities." That's an easy one--no fear of people thinking less of you; you get to be someone's hero. It's all happy times, rainbows and sunshine.

 

Why is it that we have such a hard time asking for help? We'd rather muscle through carrying five bags of groceries and opening the door for ourselves rather than ask for assistance. It's crazy, and I'd love to see that kind of senseless pride go the way of the Titanic.

 

Needs and abilities go hand in hand. There's an huge element of necessary coexistence to the equation. To quote the old Scot, John Buchan, “Without humility there can be no humanity”.

 

We need needs. And I would argue, we need to admit every once in a while that we all have needs, and go one step further to actually asking for help.

 

I'll start things off: "I have needs."
