Tree Cover Gain from Urban by County (Percent), 1992-2001

Only small areas of forest were gained from urban uses during this time period, with the Atlantic Coast of Florida leading in this area. This forest recovery may reflect hurricane recovery efforts, such as those following Hurricane Andrew, which caused extensive tree canopy loss throughout South Florida in the early 1990s.
