Render unto Ceasar...
When Jesus uttered the words 'Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s', he held a coin in his hand which looked just like this one, but with the head of another Roman emperor on it - Tiberius, presumably. It is a silver coin, about 18mm large, in this case from A.D. 138.
The coin shows Antoninus Pius, Roman emperor, A.D. 138-161, the successor of Hadrian.
ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP
AVG = augustus = revered
PP = pater patriae = father of his country
