5051. Transferred to the RAN in Sydney on October 18, 1945 - with a crew from the loaned 'N' Class destroyer HMAS NIZAM which was reverting to Royal Navy control - HMAS QUADRANT, LCDR W.F. Cook, RAN, is seen here as a member of the RAN's reconstituted 10th. Destroyer Flotilla.

Built by Hawthord Leslie and Co. Ltd of Hebburn on Tyne, the 1,705 ton destroyer was completed on November 26, 1942, and served first on Arctric convoys before joining the British Eastern Fleet in 1944, and then the BPF a year later.
As a destroyer QUADRANT a little more than two years with the RAN before being laid up in 1948 in reserve, and then - on February 15, 1950 - entered Williamstown Naval Dockyard to become g the first of her class in the RAN to go into a Type 15 fast anti-submarine frigate conversion, emerging from the dockyard in October 1953.
As a Type 15 QUADRANT she was not a complete success, as she was laid up in 1957, when her hull and engines were reported to be unserviceable. She was sold to the Kinoshita company of Japan for scrapping in 1963.
