July 17, 1965: HMAS VENDETTA [II] de-stores ammunition prior to a first Vietnam trip - HMAS CERBERUS Museum.
2873. We are afraid the photograph comes without explanation for this movement of 4.5 inch ammunition from the ship, but it is taking place in the month before HMAS VENDETTA departed for South East Asia with HMAS DUCHESS as escorts the fast troop transport HMAS SYDNEY [III] on her first trooping voyage to Vietnam.
It may be a change or checking of the main armament ammunition prior to the ship's movement to the war zone, but we don't know. We think this photograph is taken in Melbourne, at Williamstown - but that is a bit of a guess too.
