Feb. 1946: Bay Class frigate HMAS CONDAMINE near completion at the State Dockyard, Newcastle, NSW - Cyril Renwick Archives.
6801. Sitting in the floating dock at the State Dockyard, Newcastle [NSW] the 1,544 tons [standard] 2,200 tons [full load] Bay Class frigate HMAS CONDAMINE is seen close to her completion date on Feb. 22, 1946. She carries nher original K698 hull number [later F698].
Brought into service in 1942 during the Pacific War, the State Dockyard at Newcastle did much work on vessels for the US Army, but also undertook the construction of two warships for the RAN, the Bathurst Class corvette HMAS STRAHAN, and HMAS CONDAMINE.
