A selection of wrenches. From top to bottom:

 

1. Adjustable wrench (sometimes called a Crescent wrench, the brand shown here).

 

2. Hex (or Allen, another brand name) wrench.

 

3. Self-adjusting pliers.

 

4. Combination wrench, with open and box ends.

 

5. An older ratcheting box wrench. A much-improved and slimmed-down head design is incorporated into combination wrenches with ratcheting heads.

 

6. Socket handle with a crow's-foot attachment.

 

7. A pipe wrench.
