A chart-topping, slightly retitled cover of a song originally written and recorded in 1963 in the USA. Its lyrics were adapted for comedic effect as a cadence call in the 1981 movie Stripes.
This single is one of a number I purchased from sellers outside the USA, just for the heck of it. Sadly, recent tariff policy changes have all but ended this practice.
You may recall seeing the dog-and-phonograph logo two days earlier, on the Equals single. The classic trademark has a somewhat complex history involving a poorly-received painting intended for marketing purpose originally featuring a cylinder phonograph, an American in Great Britain willing to buy the rights to the work on the condition the artist revised it to feature a disc phonograph (gramophone), and the American inventor of the gramophone registering the logo in the US a year later.
