The End

Director: Krzysztof Warlikowski

A new production of Krzysztof Warlikowski is based on three texts: unproduced film script by Bernard Maria Koltes entitled „Nickel Stuff“, „The Trial“ by Franz Kafka and fragments of a novel „Elizabeth Costello“ by J.M. Coetzee. The main characters reach critical situation – they face the door: of the law, of life, of death. They want to see what is on the other side. They want to go there somehow. We face a mystery. We are able to imagine it only by using our own measures. We want to cage it in a language that is available to us and in familiar experiences of corporality. For those reasons only we are doomed to failure. Let’s trust Orson Welles who stood up against „The Trial“ – the story of a man who came to the gate of the law:

„A true mystery is unfathomable and nothing is hidden inside it. There is nothing to explain... It has been said that logic of this story is the logic of a dream. Do you feel lost in the labyrinth? Do not look far for a way out. You will not be able to find it... There is no way out.“ If there is no way out one must leave through the theatre.
