Broad-shelled Turtle (Chelodina expansa)

Thursday 1st March 2012 (3.44pm)

I went to find out why the birds were making a lot of noise and found this Broad-shelled Turtle.

I assume its long neck gave the birds the impression that it was a snake.

I got the video camera for photos and the cart to take it down the back to the creek and away from the sudden death jaws of Charlie (our dog).

The videos were not the best as I had a lot of midges and mosquitoes biting me but I managed to salvage these photos from them!!!

I left the turtle in a narrow neck section of the creek so that it could find its own 'special' spot :-)

My Thanks and Appreciation to Graham Stockfeld for his time and effort in correctly identifying this turtle.
