Caper White Butterfly (4)

We have had more Caper White Butterflies than usual lately and this afternoon my husband brought it to my attention that there were quite a few on one of our Robyn Gordon Grevillea. They were acting frantic and on close inspection I noticed that they were laying their eggs. There was a breeze blowing so keeping anything in focus wasn't easy but I did manage to take these shots. Now I will be watching for the eggs to hatch etc so I can take photos.

Have you had a swarm (kaleidoscope) of these butterflies in your area lately?

So far I have heard of this happening around the Glasshouse Mountains Qld., Barrow Creek NT, Caboolture to Villenueve Qld and around Geelong in Victoria. At first, from a distance, we thought they were the Cabbage White Butterfly.

Oddly enough no birds seem to be catching and eating these butterflies. If you know why then I would love to read your comment.
