265:365 Looky!
For those who are counting, this is the third different kind of brace that has been strapped onto my right leg in the last 6 weeks. It is definitely the most porsche-like of all braces . . . curved, custom-fitted plastic and metal, a hinge, ACL support, 6 different straps, and yet, the beauty of this brace is that it breathes. Like, My skin can taste air.
Not as comfortable as no brace, mind you, but a hell of a lot more comfy than a neoprene sleeve or a knee dislocation :)
i was told today that after surgery i will wear this brace again (round the clock for the first 4-6 months and then for an additional 18 to 24 months for activities), but that during the first two weeks of recovery there will be a fourth brace. WOW. Let this be a lesson to all y'all out there - don't tear two different ligaments and your meniscus and cartilage if you can help it.
On another note, i am kind of floored that i only have 100 days left on my 365 - that's just over 3 months! This pic is kind of appropriate because i have been thinking a lot about how, if i have surgery on July 22, that means i will finish my 365 still very much in the first month of recovery. i need to plan ahead a little and think of ways to illustrate the things i think are important to show about me and life mostly before then, and also think of things to show you aside from me sitting on the couch in pain during the post surgery days. On the back burner of my brain these thoughts are turning.
