Christmas Train Platform (detail) - Late 1940s/early '50s - Kodachrome - EXPLORE
Lionel train setup (platform) with native American village, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. To the left is an operating cattle car and corral, a new item from Lionel in the early '50s. (Orange car behind the engine). Behind it are classic metal Lionel cars from the 1940s. Note the track switch right behind the fence.
The figures were hand-painted by my mother, one of her hobbies. There are a few lead figures (small) among them. I probably made the teepees.
This was pre-Plasticville, though the covered wagon is obviously plastic. The barn towards the back is still cardboard.
From a Kodachrome slide by my dad, Ross J. Care.
