Kloster Monastery - Marienthal, Germany

Hildegard Bienen Museum - exterior design proposal.

The proposed museum is the understated, cruciform plan building on the far left side of the rendering. The catherdal (right) dates from the 15th century.

This project presented the opportunity to produce renderings that are more expressionistic and atmospheric than renderings my clients ordinarily ask for. I was given complete control over the design of the museum and visual presentation. The only requirements for the museum design were presented to me in the form of the ubiquitous "napkin sketch" showing size, shape, and placement of the proposed building. The exterior expression of the new building was intended to seamlessly fit into the existing buildings by mimicking the exterior and interior expression of a brick garage that currently occupies the site.
