Thunderbolt Siren Blower Cover Dent
The only serious thing wrong with the Thunderbolt that I purchased was a series of dents originating at one corner of the blower cover.
I turned the cover over on its top on the porch and proceeded to hammer out the dents with a big ball peen hammer. After I had hammered enough to where I was confident that all of my neighbors were wide awake this early Saturday morning, I troweled on some Bondo.
While the Bondo was setting, I worked on stripping my ten foot standpipe and mounting flange.
This Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000AT air raid and tornado siren was part of the Norman, Oklahoma outdoor warning system. Norman elected to replace their mechanical sirens with electronic outdoor warning sirens and I acquired this siren from the installation vendor for the new system.
It was an exhausting and expensive ordeal. My objective is to strip off the existing paint, repaint it and apply new decals, and then reinstall it on a short pole as a static display.
