Born in WREXHAM, Charlie moved to BIRKENHEAD, WIRRAL at a very early age, and has lived there all of his life. He even taught at an infants school in Birkenhead for several years. Success certainly didn't come overnight for Charlie. He spent many years performing at clubs and pubs mainly in the Merseyside area, the PACIFIC PUB near the docks in Birkenhead in particular.
Songs like "II Will Love You ALL MY Life" caught the attention of local radio, the Monty Lister Show "TUNE TONIC" on BBC Radio Merseyside (Sunday mornings) played Charlie's songs regularly. It wasn't long before Merseysiders took Charlie to their hearts ....awarding him the treasured "SCOUSEOLIGY AWARD". Then it happened. After an appearance on Irish tv, the song, ....."WHAT COLOUR IS THE WIND DADDIE" ..... took the Nation by storm. Charlie even knocked GARTH BROOKS off the number one spot in the Irish charts. Garth is one of the worlds' top Country stars!!
The rest or the story is as they say, 'history'. Countless big selling albums, appearances on the "GRAND OLD OPRY SHOW", in NASHVILLE, USA, regular tours of Australia and the UK, several top selling song awards and "Top Country Singer of the UK" titles, have followed since. Just like Willie Nelson, he is still at the top of his profession ! Charlie continues to tour the UK and Ireland each year, and produce top quality cds. Charlie is not just a fabulous singer, he's a prolific songwriter too, with countless successes to his name. Apart from his songs featuring heavily on his albums, many other artistes have 'covered' his songs too.
