Ok, this might be pushing the definition of Liminal. Waiting rooms and empty rooms were given as examples so I think this does represent the idea of waiting for the boats and boaters to return at some point. The footbridge is a type of liminal, as is the water between the shore and the boathouse. What do you think? : )
