She was partnered by the MV Hebridean Isles which had been called up from the Islay service to provide freight cover due to the MV Clipper Ranger having crashed into the pier and needing to be repaired in dock at Birkenhead, MV Isle of Lewis was also in Birkenhead for her annual overhaul.
MV Hebridean Isles had been due to carry out the overnight freight service to Ullapool the previous night but due to a spell of adverse weather MV Clansman operated the service to catch up with traffic and then also carried out the 7am to Ullapool as the previous days passenger services had been cancelled, so in order to allow crew rest the MV Hebridean Isles carried out the 13:50pm passenger service to Ullapool which was to allow clansman continue on the freight and 7am roster but due to technical problems she cancelled and reverted to the passenger sailings allowing MV Hebridean Isles to revert to the freight services
