Pacific Baza
I was standing on the path talking with a local ladies' art group about the large brown snake I'd just sighted right near where we were standing.
They were a nice bunch with the matter of fact attitude of most country town dwellers and showed interest but no fear and recounted tales of their own numerous snake encounters.
As we talked I noticed this bird fly into the low rainforest plantings and took a few shots and pointed it out to the ladies. As artists they appreciated the sleek and stylish look to the bird. One lady told me that they nested in a tree in her yard each year.
I'd seen a nest earlier not far from where we were and told them about it and they went off to have look.
